Who are we? Why are we? If tomorrow brings an utter destruction of what we know today, if the Midnight Hour brings not just omen but actuality, do you have a course of action? What do you do if you wake up and every compass on the planet suddenly points down? What do you do if you find that darkness has become not merely an abstract of light’s absence, but a thick loamy substrate capable of supporting (or obstructing) substantial mass? What do you do if everything is perfectly normal, and your near acquaintances begin acting confused and frightened of the entirely natural fact that you are a giant lizard?

Such matters will probably never exceed the bounds of the theoretical… but “probably” is a dangerous and complacent word. Let’s not settle for “probably,” because preemptive supposition arguably forms the strongest edge of human pondering. Now, as you consider, you need an idea. You need a decision of consequence. What do you do, scout?
